Write letters, voice notes, and short videos for the people you love, kept safe and shared only with the person you chose, after careful checks.
Setting up takes about 15 minutes, and you can stop and come back whenever you like.
Letters, voice notes, short videos, and the practical details people will need. Take your time, and change anything whenever you like.
Each person only ever sees what you chose for them. For each message, you also choose whether it may be shared if you’re seriously unwell, or only after your death.
Ask two people you trust to be your verifiers. They can let us know if something has happened. They never see your messages.
We try to reach you for at least three days, the report is confirmed independently, and a trained person reviews it. Then a waiting period you choose (7 to 30 days) runs before anything is shared.
Sharing something too soon is the one mistake we work hardest to prevent. When in doubt, we wait.
Every report is checked with you first, confirmed independently, and reviewed by our team before anything is shared.
Before anything moves forward, we contact you by email, text, and in the app, again and again, for at least three days.
If you’re OK, pause it from any email or text we send. No sign-in and no phone call needed.
A missed payment or check-in never causes anything to be shared. Your messages stay safe through a long grace period, and you can always download them.
Billed once a year. Every plan includes the full safety promise. We’re not open yet, so nothing is charged today.

I lost my dad suddenly when I was 19. There was no letter, no last message, nothing in his own words. Just memories, and they fade a little more every year.
Getting ready for surgery recently, I found myself thinking about what I’d want my son to have if I didn’t wake up. And about the simpler things too: who would look after the house, where the important papers are, who should be called first.
I’m building In The Event Of so the people you love are never left without your words, or left guessing about what to do. That includes the millions of people who live alone and quietly wonder who would know.
We’d tell you by email and text, with time to download everything you’ve stored. We’d give as much notice as we can, and we aim for at least 90 days. Closing down would never, by itself, send your messages to anyone. They’re only ever delivered through a verified release. We’re planning for this from day one.
No. In The Event Of works alongside your will. It’s a place for personal messages and practical details, and it doesn’t replace a will or any other legal document.
Only if you choose to tell them. We don’t contact the people you’ve chosen unless you ask us to invite them, or until a message is shared with them.
No, with one narrow exception. Your messages are encrypted, and staff accounts can’t open them. Our team reviews the reports and evidence that something has happened, never your messages. Apart from showing them to you, our systems open your messages only to deliver them to the people you chose, after a verified release. The one exception is a valid legal order, such as a court order. Our lawyer must check it, two named people must approve, the access is temporary, and every step is recorded in a tamper-evident log.
